Hi. Please guide me.
Can we say "have been originated"?

For instance:
Humankind have been originated in Africa.

Better to say 'it is widely believed that modern man originated from Africa' no need for 'have been' in any case.

Passive use of "originate" is possible for things that have been devised by humans (e.g. "all designs were originated by the company"), but it seems wrong to me for natural events, at least in the cases that I can think of. In this case, additionally, the use of present perfect seems odd. You can say "Humankind originated in Africa".

I used 'from' purely because we are now spread out. I am by no means an expert, my opinion is based purely on what 'sounds' right to me. I would go with what GPY says :-)
