Have been+ adj

Hi englishforum

Is this a correct form of putting adjective after 'have/had been'? suppose, I heard people saying:

"The store had been very busy before the rain started". I tried some grammar books but haven't found anything related this form.

I'd appreciate if anybody could figure out my confusion.

Thanks.

I'm not sure what confuses you, but these are correct: The store had been very busy when the rain started. I have been very happy living here.
