I know Jackie very well. I have been a fan of him. You can ask me any question about his movies. I have seen every one of them.

Is the use of sentence “I have been a fan of him.” correct with the context? Does “I have been a fan of him” mean I started becoming his fan in the past and continued to become his fan until now and I still am his fan at present?
