My high school English teacher would not accept as there. With a negative (No other ...), she insisted that only socould be used. A bit finicky, I thought.

So according to your teacher:

So the positive is: She is as beautiful as you.

But the negative is: She is not so beautiful as you. Also: No one else could ever be so beatiful as you.

Is that right? I always mess that up.

If you want my opinion, both not so beautiful as and not as beautiful asare correct. I respect Jim's different opinion, though. People can't always agree on everything, can they?
