have a snifter

I'm watching this BBC show and these (strange) phrases just keep coming up. Have you ever heard this one?

Let's have a snifter, shall we? (=a shot of alcoholic drink)

BTW, the show is called "the darling buds of May"

Here: "A footed glass that is wide at the bottom and tapers to the top, used for brandy and other drinks."

No, it's not a glass, it's a drink (at least in BrE). I was just wondering whether native speakers use this phrase nowadays, that's all.

Oh, I guess I took your original question too literally. Anyway, I can't help with BrE.
