Have a question about British accent.

I have been wondering why is it that when British people sing, it's in American accent. I personally never heard a British singer sing in British accent, and I would love to hear one! Can British speak in the American accent if they wanted too, or is it just when they sing?

Hope you can clarify some of these confusions. Thank you.

"Jacko, pray no more British people see this post!"

Is it offensive? If it is, I didn't really mean to.

Did Elton John sing with an American accent?

Not at all! He never has and never will! Only actors/actresses are REALLY able to switch accents as they are professionally trained to do so.

Can you speak with an American accent or an Italian accent?

Me? I couldn't if I tried. I'd make a real fool of myself! Anyway why would I want to speak like a 'Yankee'?

I don't think so. Does he have a program on tv? His name sounds kind of familiar.
