HAVE A NICE DAY!

Is this expression an Imperative sentence? or, Shouldn't it be: I HOPE YOU HAVE A NICE DAY! In which case it would be an Indicative mode followed by a Subjuntive.

Top answer

Although it is imperative mood, it is friendly and polite. I hope that you have a nice day. - If someone said this to me, I would hope that "have a nice day" would be indicative, not subjunctive!
