Vocabulary

have a look vs take a look

Can you tell me when I should use "have a look" and when "take a look"? Do both mean the same? Are both correct?
Example I have to say he decided to go and take a look/ have a look, which should I use?

Hello, wordsinmotion—and welcome to English Forums. Both verb phrases are informal, and they are synonymous in any situation I can imagine offhand. I have a vague inkling that 'have' is marginally less dynamic than 'take', but it may be a mental mirage.
