'have a like' vs 'like'

teachers,I came across these sentence

Rewrite the sentence:

* I find it surprising that she didn't like her present.

----> I would have a thought that she would have a like her present(??)

Please explain to me why I shouldn't write '' i would have thought that she would like her present (is there any difference between have a thought, have a like and 'thought','like'?)

Another sentence:

* I only heard her husband's side of the story when I met him in France

--->It was only when I met her husband that I heard his side of the story

is there any problem if i want to write:' It was only when I met her husband did I hear his side of the story'??

thanks

.
