... have a hard time not paying attention

Hello,

could you please tell me what "have a hard time not paying attention to 9-to-5 day" means?

"Biologists say night workers have a hard time not paying attention to the 9-to-5 day because of noises or family obligations or that’s the only time they can go to the dentist. There are not too many dentists open at midnight."

Another thing is, which should be the right answer to this:

People who work at night can hardly
a) fulfill traditional family obligations.
b) consult doctors when needed.
c) socialize to their liking.
d) ever sleep without ear-plugs.

I found this reading comprehension exercise online, and I can't figure out what option I should choose. A perhaps?

Thank you

Well, on the basis of the passage I quoted, I have to choose the right answer (a, b, c, or d).
Sorry if I wasn't very clear on this.

HotmaleI can't figure out what option I should choose.
Me neither, but I'd pick c) as the answer that (more or less) summarizes all the problems noted and then hope that I got it right.

Hi

I understand the quote to mean that people who work night shifts do a really hard job, often for not much pay. It's quite difficult for them to fit into everyday life. I've done it but, thankfully, not for a while

My answer is a, b, c and d
