Vocabulary

Hatred

Hi,

I'm looking for a word which describes a feeling in which one cannot speak due to feeling an obstacle in throat(this is not a physical obstacle but a kind of cease which restrain you from speaking). It usually happens before weeping in a case of hearing sth doleful.
I checked a bilingual dictionary and couldn't find a better word than "hatred".
Would anyone please give me a synonym provided with some examples?

I'm so thankful in advance,

Iman

Hello, Iman. Can you provide a sentence with a blank space where the word should be? It is difficult to offer suggestions if we don't know how it will be used.

Hi Mistre Micawbre,

It can be used in the following way :
" When I wanted to tell my mother how much I love her, a feeling of hatred restrained me from expressing my inner feeling about her."

This word can be used instead of the italicized part.
Can you think of a better word.

Thank you in advance,

Iman

You defintitely don't want to use the word "hatred" when talking about how much you love your mother! You could say "When I wanted to tell my mother how much I love her, I got a lump in my throat and couldn't even speak."

TheFreeeDictionary.com defines it like this:

lump in (one's) throat
A feeling of constriction in the throat caused by emotion.

Hi Khoff,
Thanks a million. That was exactly what I meant.

Thank you for your time and reply.
