Please let me know if these sentences are same

1. Where has he/she gone? can be substituted with Where did he/she go?

2. Where had he/she kept the book? same as Where did he/she keep the book?

3. Where had you/he/she gone all these days? same as Where did you/he/she went all these days?

Please let me know if these sentences mean-~~are~~ the same.

1. Yes, sometimes. 'Where has he / she gone?' can be substituted for 'Where did he / she go?' only if

the question is being asked shortly after one's going. For example, you can ask either of the questions

if one has recently left, but certainly you cannot ask the former if one left a week ago. If you're unsure, stick

with the latter.

2. No. The former uses the past perfect tense, that is, it suggests that someone had kept the book before

doing something else at some point in the past. The latter suggests, however, that someone kept the

book in the past, but it doesn't mention if this action was preceded by another action.

They are not interchangeable.

3. No. The former suggests that someone had gone before something else occurred. The latter suggests that

someone went somewhere, but it doesn't mention if it was preceded by another action.
