What's happened already happened, and we can't erase the
past, but I'm trying very hard to redeem what is right, because what happened to me has/had left a wound that will never ever properly heal.

CalifJimI don't get the 'redeem what is right' part. I don't understand what you're trying hard to do. To do what is right? To obtain justice? To set the record straight?
This part strikes me as odd too. "To redeem" usually means to put honest effort to do something good for others for the hurts you have done to them.

You might say, more concisely, just "to set things right", particularly if those you are writing to are aware of whatever the situation is that you're referring to. Thus,

... I'm trying very hard to set things right because ...
