Has/did

Hi,

What is correct?

If somebody ask me: Did Peter consult hotels with you?

Shall I reply: No, he hasn´t. or No he didn´t?

Thanks a lot for the help.

Either will work, Kate. If you still think he might consult about hotels with you, then use 'hasn't'.

It will more or less depend on the helping verb used at the beginning of the sentence.

Has he put on wight?

Yes, he has. No, he hasn't.

Does she know anyone in town?

Yes, she does. No, she doesn't.

Do you mind if I stay here tonight?

Yes, i do. No, I don't.

Btw, you really should say "Did Peter consult with you about hotels". I'm afraid "consult hotels" isn't good. But you can say "consult Peter about hotels" (ask Peter's advice regarding hotels), which is different from "consult with Peter" (suggests that Peter and you discuss about hotels).
