Has the drawing been there ?

I went to a restaurant and saw a drawing which I think that there used not to be there.
I wanted to know if there used to be the drawing haging on the wall.

Can I say
Has the drawing been there before?

I agree with Blue Jay about the usual ways to ask what you probably mean.

To me, "Has that drawing been there before?" seems to be asking whether the drawing was there at some point in the past, then taken down, and then put back again. I'm not sure whether everyone would understand it this way.

I hadn't thought of that, but I agree with you.
