Has o had?

I'm writing about a person and I want to describe her but I'm a little confused because I started the composition in a past time and I don't know if I have to use present simple or a past tense. if I write HAD means that she is dead, isn't it?

She had/has a slim shape, a fair complexion and big hazel eyes. ??

It's about the past, so use Past Tense. eg I saw a woman on the bus yesterday. She had a big nose.
