'has met with a good reaction'

Hi!

In the sentence "According to XYZ, the ban has met with a good reaction of the public", is the used construction the preferred one, or even the correct one?

Aside from the 'meeting a good reaction' phrase sounding silly in the first place, shouldn't it be either "According to XYZ, the ban has met with a good reaction of the public" or "According to XYZ, the ban has been met with a good reaction of the public"?

Please help me out with this.
