Has lost or has been lost?

talking about something is missing. Does "lose" usually act as active or passive? I find it hard to decide. For example, which one is correct?

All my pictures on my mobile phone has been lost!

The pictures have been lost (passive). You have lost them (active). You can't say that the pictures have lost, but you can say that they have gone, disappeared, vanished, etc.
