Has known or knew for two years?

Hi. Let us say a person has to rephrase the content that contains this information, among some other.

There is a lady who recently ended her two-year relationship with her boyfriend and seeing another guy. Even though ended her relationship she still has a feeling for him. She is asking for advice regarding her situaton....

How should he write the underlined part, when he wants to maintain the present tense perspective in his retelling.

(rephrasing with present tense perspective)

She has recently broken up with her boyfriend, whom she has known (knew?) for two years. She hasn't gotten over the her previous relationship yet, but has started seeing another person. She wonders what she should do....
