Has had vs had.

Hi, everyone.

I will be 30 mins late; I am taking my uncle, who has had an ashtma attack this morning, to a doctor.

I will be 30 mins late; I am taking my uncle, who had an ashtma attack this morning, to a doctor.

Which of the above sentences is correct?

Both are OK, but I think #2 is more common. You could use a period instead of a semi-colon. Clive

I would like to add to the answers already posted....

In #1, if you are letting someone know about your being late, "has had" suggests his asthmatic condition is ongoing that you need to take him to a doctor. So I'd incline to use " is having an asthma attack....". Also, I believe "uncle" is a restrictive case, so no comma.

In#2, "had" suggests that his asthmatic condition is impro
