Eventually he found the wallet he had been looking for.
Eventually he has found the wallet he had been looking for.

Are these sentences correct?

Hi, the first sentence is perfectly ok, but i am afraid the second sentence is wrong. the reason is the usage of the word " Eventually".

the first sentence is perfectly ok, but i am afraid the second sentence is wrong.
the reason is the usage of the word " Eventually".

Because he FOUND the wallet in a particular moment in the past, and that action is now completed. "Has/have found" would be used for an unspecified time (or times) in the past...sometime up till now...for example "He hasn't found his wallet yet" (until now). He began looking for it in the past and he is STILL looking for it.
