Has been & was, when a certification will be issued...

A certification will be issued to a staff on his last day in the company. Part of the content as follows:

This is to certify that XXX has been a staff of XXX company from dd/mm/YYYY to dd/mm/YYYY. His position was XXX.

Are the tenses in the above sentences correct ("has been" in the first sentence and "was" in the second one) ?

Thanks!
