Has been vs was and had been.

The status of my parcel hasn't been updated in a long time.

The status of my parcel wasn't updated since 25 August 2020.

Are both the sentences grammatically correct, can you briefly help me to learn when to use was and has been. I know when talking about specific time it should be "was" otherwise "has been".

What is the difference between both the below sentences?

When I reached home I saw she was doing her homework.

When I reached home I saw she'd been doing her homework.
