has been made .. OR .. had been made ?? I'm confused !

Peace be upon u all ..

Would anybody please explain what to choose from among those four options ??

Since the computer was used in schools , remarkable progress in education ............... .

  1. has made

  2. has been made

  3. had made

  4. had been made
Of course and undoubtedly # 1& # 3 are absolutely wrong ..

What confused me and it was really a stumbling block , the meaning of ( Since ) ..

I mean ..

Does it - in the sentence - mean ( Because ) .. or ( the connector since which is used

in the present perfect tense ) ??

Waiting impatiently for the answer !

If I had to pick one it would be 2) b ut it does not make a good sentence. It should be 'Since computers have been used in schools' or 'Since the computer has been used in schools' but best of all: 'Since the computer started being used in schools,' Was is incorrect. Then the order of the last part is not the most natural.

Hello. The answer is 2, "has been made." The use of the word "since" means that this "process" is still happening--thus, you must use the present perfect tense ("has been").

Just to add that the past poster is completely right--the sentence isn't great to start with. That's because of the use of "was."

I agree. Best would be: "Since computers have been used in schools, education has made remarkable progress/remarkable progress has been made in education (choose one of these phrases)."

Just to add that the sentence from the start is pretty poor because of "was used." This implies that computers were once used in schools but now they aren't used anymore.

It would be a much stronger/understandable sentence if something like: "Since computers have been used in schools, remarkable process in education has been made." Actually, there are several possible improvements to the

This is a compound sentence with "past" and present perfect" tense that don't seem to blend grammatically correctly together. But I beli
