Has become/became - along the way

Hi everyone!
Could someone please share their thoughts on how natural the present perfect tense sounds in the following context? Would it read better with "as a result" instead of "along the way"? It's a description of a project in someone's career history, like the best project they've done or something like this.

Thanks to this experience, Anna has learnt a lot. She gathered metrics and injected them into the tool. Anna has become more knowledgeable about time series databases along the way.

It's good.

Yes. "Along the way" needs more support. There is also "in the process", which is better.
