hardly/Scarcely

Hello,

1. Not long after I had suggested that they should leave the packing to me, they agreed and left me to it.

I have to rewrite this sentence using anyone from barely/hardly/Scarcely

a. Hardly had I suggested that they should leave the packing to me, when they agreed and left me to it.

b. Barely had I suggested that they should leave the packing to me, when they agreed and left me to it.

b. Scarcely had I suggested that they should leave the packing to me, when they agreed and left me to it.

In my opinion all three sentence a/b/c are correct. But I want to know your expert opinion.

As far as I am concerned the wording of question is wrong: it too should contain inversion:

Not long after I had suggested that they should leave the packing to me DID THEY AGREE and LEAVE the packing to me.
