Hard Work

My hard work has recently paid off in two different areas of my life. First of all, I am happy to say that this spring I have received my Associates degree after attending college on a part-time basis while working full-time and raising three sons.

It was not an easy task being a non traditional student. I was busy with homework and constant studying while working and attending doctor appointments, soccer practice, football games, school plays, not to mention the day to day cooking and cleaning.

I love my kids and have poured my heart into raising them, this includes instilling the importance of a college education. This is the reason why I received my degree, to be an example that college is possible.

My hard work paid off when my oldest son graduated from high school in the top 10 percent of his class and has been accepted into Texas Wesleyan University this Fall with a $19,000 scholarship. I also see it pay off when my two youngest sons bring their report cards home with straight A's, and are commended on their TAKS tests.

Since graduating from college I have heard my boys talking amongst themselves about what universities they are interested in and the college degrees they want to receive after high school. I will never have hard work pay off like it has being the mother of three intelligent and respectable young men.
