hard swipe

the magnetic strip on my credit card is old

The person says

It's a hard swipe. You're better off entering the numbers manually. You could try to swipe it but the card won't go through fluidly.

Is it naturally to say "it is a hard swipe" and "go through fluidly"?

Thank you

Top answer

You can't just enter the numbers manually because the numbers on the magnetic track are secret (not known to the owner). The only secret number known to the card owner is the PIN but the PIN alone is not sufficient to complete a transaction.

How would you say it please?

If it's hard to swipe it? Can you say 'The card is hard to swipe'? Is that natural?

How would you say 'go through fluidly' part?

Thank you Fivejedjon

I think I'd just say "The card won't swipe".

Can you say 'It is hard to swipe my card'?

Is there any way to say 'go through fluidly' naturally or differently?

Thank you!!
