Hi
Could you please tell me if the word hard collocates well with splash of water? Or could you offer me a better word?
I heard the hard splash of shower in the washroom and I naturally assumed Kevin was inside.
Thanks,
Tom
It is. However, althought I don't know the plot of your text, your sentence do seem a little odd logically. Try using a more explicit language to help enhance reader's understanding of your sentence.

"hard spash of shower" doesn't really seem to be connected to Kevin
It doesn't sound very natural to me.
If you mean you heard the water coming out of the tap, say eg I heard water running in the washroom . . .

I heard the steady splatter of the shower in the bathroom, and I naturally assumed Kevin was inside. (my American English version)
