HARD DRIVING

Hi.
I would like to know the exact meaning of this "hard driving" I have read here:
'But I was glad to play with him again because he was always an inventive, HARD DRIVING, imaginative musician.'
I don't understand very well what it refers to.

Thanks in advance, Jo.
