How would you correct this sentence so that the pronouns agree?
His dogs or his cat are going to the pet hospital, and each of his animals must receive their immunization shots tomorrow.

As they are animals, I would change 'their' to 'its'. ) I would prefer the sentence to start ' Either his dogs or his cat . ' - the implication being that he can't take dogs and a cat at the same time.

As they are animals, I would change 'their' to 'its'.

(If they had been children, 'their' [the gender-neutral pronoun] would have been fine.)

I would prefer the sentence to start 'Either his dogs or his cat . . .' - the implication being that he can't take dogs and a cat at the same time.
