Happy Summer Solstice

Happy Summer Solstice - It's a very rare event that a full moon accompanies the solstice. The Druids felt that this was a rare chance to make extra good the final planting of seeds, meaning agricultural and emotional, career based, and psychological seeds as well. Expect a bumper crop come harvest time. Actually, it will appear as a full moon, but the full moon occurred a few days ago. Tonight's moons will actually appear larger because its path is closer to the horizon.

How many summer solstice full moons have there been? I don't know... but I do know that there were only 7 winter solstice full moons in the entire 20th century. You've heard the phrase "Once in a blue moon." In fact, blue moons are rare also - counting on average, in 20 years there will only be about 15 blue moons - if you define them within the context of the Christian Ecclesiastical Calendar (that's another story) .

  • Sheesh, time is marching on..

Thanks, SL, for the heads-up. I'll speak with my wife about the planting this very evening.

It's "midsummersnight," for all you Shakespearians.
