Happy New Year

Hi.

In my country we celebrate the new year on April first. and we have the habit of saying Happy New Year to each other when we see each other for the first time in that new year. this greeting is last even as late as April 20 or sth.

I am asking natives if the same goes for yourgreeting. I mean do you tell someone Happy New Year when You see them On Jan20.

Thanks for your response in advance

It's possible, but by the 20th we are often no longer sure if we have already met that person this year, and our minds have drifted on to other concerns.
