Happy BELATED New Year?

Is it even logical to say such an expression?

Grammatically the sentence looks off to me too.

Why is that? Belated Happy New Year sounds even more amusing to me, in that I often hear "Happy Belated Christmas" instead of "Belated Happy Christmas". I'm asking for a legitimate saying though:)

Belated Happy New Year Sounds like the saying is belated. This is a reasonable meaning. I don't find it amusing.
