Hanging out or hang out

Which sentence is correct? "I love to play sports and hang out with my two girlfriends" or "I love to play sports and hanging out with my two girlfriends"? and tell me why.

"I love to play sports and hang out with my two girl friends." This is OK.

"I love to play sports and hanging out with my two girlfriends." This is odd as the verbs are not of the same form.

I love to play sports and hang out with my two girlfriends.
I love playing sports and hanging out with my two girlfriends.

You should be consistent and use either the infinitive or the gerund form for both of the verbs.
