When I started shouting at the phone, she hang up and put the receiver down.

Is this sentence correct?

When I started shouting on the phone, she hung up. (Or 'she put the receiver down')

I know, hang up = put an end to telephone conversation; and (put the telephone down means "keep the receiver back"). Then why you didn't put "put the telephone down" in your sentence after the "she hung up"
