Hang up and get off the phone.

Hi teachers.I think I usually use 'get off the phone.' when I want to let people know that my phone conversation ended and mention sth I talked about on the phone. If I press 'end button' before somebody on the other end finishes their conversation, the person would say 'hang up.' So are they never interchangeable? I think I heard people say "I need to hang up. I shluld go now."Can I use 'get off?'Thanks in advance~

Can you describe this in greater detail? It seems you're saying that the conversation ended, and then after it ended you mention something you talked about on the phone. Are you mentioning this to the person you just finished talking to? Or to other people who are in the room with you? Your account of this is rather confusing.

"Hang up" is a command to hang up. Why would the person you hung up on, whom you can no longer hear, tell you to hang up? You have already just hung up. Again, your description of the situation is confusing.
