hands-on mentality

Hello,
I would appreciate if someone could take a look on my cover letter and make corrections to it. Could you please explain also what does 'hands-on mentality' mean?

Thank you very much in advance.
Aida

Dear Sir/Madame

I would like to apply for the position of XXX listed on 21st October 2008 at www.xxxxxxx.xx

I will be in at the end of this week, for four days starting on Saturday, 25 October. If it is possible to arrange it on such short notice, I would be very pleased to be interviewed in person while I am in .

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,
