Handing

Dear exerts,

I need your help understanding what the manual says. I'm talking about a manual for a furnace, and one of its sections is called "Handing". It says as follows:

_The structure should be designed such that the components can be assembled to produce a feed system of either hand._

Does it mean that the system, in theory, can be assembled so that to fit either right- or left-handed operators?

Please help.

Best regards,
Max

That would be my take. But then, I'm not versed in constructing furnaces.

You did not say what type of furnace it is. If it is fueled by coal or other solid fuel supplied by a mechanical feed system, I would be inclined to think that it would refer to the possibility of locating the feed system on either the right or left of the furnace, to provide flexibility in installation.
