At the outset of the year, I was in the *** department, but I was shifted to **** department halfway through the year,

Is this sentence correct?

I mean, by the halfway through, that I was shifted to another period in the middle of the year.

I'd say you'll much, much more commonly hear At the start/beginning of the year . .
