HALFWAY DONE / THROUGH

Could you tell me what you think of these 2 sentences please?

I’m halfway done with my work. My work will take me 3 hours altogether, that is if I take my time somewhat.

If she gives me work to do at the last minute I’ll still be on it tomorrow . (can you say “be on it”)

Do these 2 WHEN mean the same thing?

- You told me to wait when I had finished/to kill some time when I had finished.

- Why do you say its wrong when its right?

Thank you
