Half the same

1. The picture is half the same thing as the original.

2. The picture is half the same as the original.

3. The picture is 80% the same thing as the original.

4. The picture is 80% the same as the original.


I wonder whether all four are grammatical and natural.

I guess they are, but as I've never come across such a case before, I'm not sure whether I'm right.

TT make the intended meaning clear, you need to say it differently.

eg 80% of the original painting has been painted over.
