Half (of?) a kilo?!!!

Hi,

1-Please correct the following paragraph to to best describe this case. It contains alot of mistakes . THANK YOU VRY MUCH

"I work as teacher, and sometime students (apologize, is it the coorect word?) for not being able to attend my classes, just few minutes before class time. So, because I've already ( devoted ??, how can you say this?!) time for them to attend the class, they will be considered as if they have taken the class because I wasn't notified brforehand".

They would say; Why, teacher? please give me a good response. I mean, they have to "apoplogize at least 2 hours before class time as I would have already "set" a classroom for them.

2-How can you move a class one hour earlier to its original time? I mean, how can I say this to my students? What is the opposite, I want to delay the class one hour A) Permanently B) Just for this day. How would I say this whether it was just for today, or I want to give the earlier/later one hour? Once I heard (move up the class, but I am not sure).

3-Is it half of a kilo/ dollar OR half a kilo/ dollar.

THANK YOU ALL.

Hi

(I agree with Rover, by the way - do post as many questions as you wish - but it's easier if they are in separate messages)

With regard to (1)..

- In UK business speech, if you cannot turn up for a meeting then you "give your apologies". As you say, this should be done, say, two hours before the agreed time by notifying the chair of the meeting (or the teacher). The
