"half hour" Vs. "Half an hour"

1. "You were supposed to give them to me half an hour ago"

2. ""You were supposed to give them to me half hour ago"

Can they be used interchageably?

Thank you

The second one is wrong. Some might say "a half hour ago" but for all practical purposes you'd be best off sticking to "half an hour ago".
