'half an hour' vs 'a half hour'

Does "I'll see you in a half hour" sound awkward? How about "She spends a half hour in making up every morning before going to work"? Should all of them be replaced with "half an hour"?

How about "half of an hour"? Are "half an hour" and "half of an hour" also interchangeable?
