Hadn't

During those seven years away I have/had not once stopped thinking about the cruel treatment I received from XYZ and it is something I have to give off my mind and conscience.

I think it should be hadn't because it's something that happened in the past. Please correct me if im wrong. Thannk you!

If the seven years away ended just now, and the thinking is still continuing, I have not once stopped ....
If the seven years away ended some time ago, and you are referring only to the thinking you did during that time, not to thinking since then up to the present, I had not once stopped ....

You could also just say one of the following.

'During.......I not once stopped....'
During........I never stopped.....'
