had Vpp or has Vpp?

You feel as if a veil has been lifted when you can suddenly do what you couldn't do.

Is it possible to use 'had been' instead of 'has been?'

' Not really. I'd call it "borderline OK". You can just barely get away with it without going to grammar jail.

  • 'has been' goes with 'feel' (present perfect with present) much better, so I enthusiastically recommend 'has been'.
