Had paid or just paid - phl

Hi everyone,

Just want to know if the grammar of the following sentences are correct, especially the use of verb(had paid). Also , if you can tell the reason why it is or not correct. If you can change the sentences below, how will you rewrite it. Thank you!

Last month we had paid a total amount of 2,500 for consuming 250 cubic meter of water. This month we will be paying 3,500 for consuming 300 cubic meter of water, an increase of 50 cubic meter from our previous month consumption.
