Hi, Can I say, She had not slept a wink last night. Yes, you can, if you have a context where you need to use the Past Perfect. Do you know the difference between 'She cooked dinner' and 'She had cooked dinner'?

Yes. I know. can I say,

She doesn't sleep a wink almost every night.

She didn't sleep a wink yesterday.

P/s: I think we should not mention the time because of the paast perfect tense like:

She had not slept a wink last night. (am I right?)

She did not sleep a wink last night. [You're measuring backwards from "now".]

She had not slept a wink the night before. [You're measuring backwards from some time in the past.]

"Not mentioning the time" applies more to the present perfect.

Hi,

You could say something like 'She had not slept a wink last night before the phone rang'.

Best wishes, Clive
