had never vs didn't

I wish I had never met mom.

I wish I didn't meet mom.

Can someone please explain the difference between the sentences above?

I don't quite get the meaning in this context. Let me give it a shot:

I wish I didn't meet my mom.

'didn't' here means habitual in the sense that I met my mom regularly but I wish didn't meet her for that one particular instance which I did, right?

I wish I had never met my mom

means in my life, I had never met her except that one time which I wish I didn't .
